OOF Yikes!

It looks like you’re viewing this site on a tablet, right? I’m into that, really. I’d love for you to look at my site on your tablet. Unfortunately, I haven’t quite fixed the responsiveness to function in a way I’m comfortable showing right now. I know I know its a really bad look but I’m a buisy guy and I swear I’m working on it ok! So in the meantime, take a second and check the site out on a wider screen, I promise you’ll like it, and maybe in a few days my site will be tablet-friendly :),

Check my site out on a wider screen and you’ll have a better experience I promise.

Extra!! Extra!!

With the help of my brilliant team at 617MediaGroup, I’ve had the pleasure of designing and developing hundreds of print collateral pieces for clients across a range of trade industries. From posters to quarterly magazine-style newsletters to flyers and promotional materials, these have been some of my favorite projects to work on, as they help to solder the bonds between union leadership and their members, and ignite the spark of solidarity in our communities.

The Bread and Butter of Graphic Design

I’ve found joy in crafting social graphics and digital ads that authentically captivate end users. A successful graphic has the ability to make someone stop, think, and take action. The challenge of developing a brand – new or existing – into something that connects with its audience is a task I have grown to adore and one that keeps me coming back for more.

Yes, I can make you a logo.
No, I won’t tattoo it on you

Just like a great tattoo tells a story and becomes a part of who you are, a strong brand imprints itself in people’s minds. It’s not just decoration; it’s a mark of identity, something that stays with your audience long after they first see it – and, just like the best tattoos, a well-designed brand is one you’ll love showing off for years to come.

Emett Smith is a seasoned designer with over eight years of professional experience developing creative media advertising for a diverse range of target audiences. He is best known for his use of texture and color and an eye-melting love of maximalism. Emett views each project with a solutions-oriented mindset and prioritizes communication and intention when developing collateral. He is a deadline-oriented, quasi-professional, born-to-be personality hire with a level of organization that feels deeply hypocritical to him.

Work History

617MediaGroup 2017 – Current

Creative Lead – 2021-Current

Today, I manage the development and execution of various creative projects and campaigns assigned to me by my client service team. My role involves ensuring that each deliverable aligns with our agency’s best practices and design ideals, our clients’ branding, and the provided brief’s objectives and expectations to effectively communicate the clients’
message to end users.

Senior Designer – 2019-2021

I developed my management skills by recruiting and supervising the work of new designers. I also delegated client requests and executed design work to provide consistent, high-quality deliverables aligned with client needs and the agency’s design ideals.

Graphic Designer – 2018-2019

As a graphic designer, I took on project management responsibilities, guiding the direction of design collateral using my knowledge of Adobe programs and WordPress to produce print materials and multi-page websites based on the briefs provided by the client services team.

Design Intern – 2017-2018

As a design intern, I worked on various tasks set by my creative director, from creating social media graphics to supporting web design and development projects. I gained hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and workflows, learning to turn creative ideas into compelling visuals while collaborating with the client service team to meet client expectations.

Freelance Design – 2017-2025

I occasionally take on small-scale projects in my spare time, developing tailored visuals, branding suites, and web design. I handle every aspect of the process, such as consultation and concept development, creating timelines, setting clear delivery expectations, and providing experienced guidance on design theory and best practices to ensure a smooth and successful creative experience.

Elite Embroidery 2016 – 2017

Graphic Design Intern and Backroom Assistant

For my college internship, I worked at Elite Embroidery, providing website development, promotional advertisements, and rebranding for the screen printing shop formerly in Weymouth, MA. Along with the contracted rebranding, I helped complete custom designs for clients and assisted in various backroom printing tasks.
